In order to bring a mascot character alive and it seems real, you have got some important things in your headlines. You need a good drawing or design of what the character should look like to begin with, obviously. This photo is fantastic for the mascot suit in progress. Now that the no pun intended picture is so clear everyone agrees, it's time to sew the suits! It can be pretty complex and detailed work, you need to stitch together various types of material in order to produce the suit.
Once the suit is created, it needs to be worn by someone in a mascot suit. He/she should be able to easily move around given he was in the attire and mimic his character personality. This is HARD to do well LABORIOUS PRACTICE+ it takes SKILLS in making them lively and engaging. In addition, the person driving in a suit should obviously be friendly with everyone and behave as they would if that character were real. This is significant, as it allows the audience to identify with the character and also enhances their viewing pleasure.
The creation of mascots have been known to cost a pretty penny, so its crucial that they are maintained properly to keep them looking great. This includes washing and proper storage when the equipment is not in use. Washing the suit consists of removing any build up dirt, sweat, etc. This can be achieved by wiping it down with a special cleaning solution and using soft lint-free cloths.
Over the years, a lot has evolved about mascot suits and they have been with us for many long decades. Years ago, the first mascot suits were (I'm sure) a living hell to wear, as they weighed 600 pounds and made from metal and leather. Such materials made the suits very unpleasing when used and they could even cause hazard on certain situations, which wasn't great for the performers.
During the 1960's, companies started to manufacture suit materials in general of a much lighter stance using solids such as foam into creating ever new forms. This was a game-changer! They were much lighter, safer and user-friendly for those who had to wear them. With the improvements in technology, however, mascot suits have gained attention because they can be especially detailed and often seem life-like creating excitement.
Designers: Design is the first storytellers that envisions all of those on paper for how a character should be and decides about what kind of suit design would they have. These materials are given to skilled workers — also known as seamstresses or tailors, who combine them together by cutting, and sewing the different parts of the suit. There are also performers (those talented body that wears a suit and pllays the character). They have to move and act well, embodying the character perfectly through it all.
And yet — there are also people whose job it is to help the person inside. These helpers could be handlers, who are responsible for helping the performer in and out of the suit, getting them water or snacks as needed; generally just making sure that everything is all good. There may also be sound and lighting technicians, ensuring all the equipment works as it should so that everything goes well during the performance.
